He was accompanied by Kate Blackwell QC whose experience includes working with many national leading solicitors in cases of mortgage fraud, fraudulent trading, VAT fraud, corruption, and MTIC fraud also provided essential advice on the best ways to avoid money laundering and bribery.

The NZCCHK labelled the event as ‘A must-attend seminar of interest to all persons involved in the financial services and related industries. A rare opportunity to hear from UK based Queen’s Counsel on a topic of significant importance.’ This well attended event was one of a number of financial crime seminars to be presented by these UK based barristers. Kate Blackwell QC explained, “There is undoubtedly a huge drive, not only on mainland China, but also across the globe by governments cracking down on money laundering. There is also an acceptance, growing wider each year, that there has to be cross-border cooperation between investigative authorities if this and the crime of bribery are to be brought under control. An understanding of the reach of the UK law is imperative for any company considering engaging in international business.”
