DAN THOMAS PROSECUTES COMPANY FOR CAUSING LIFE CHANGING INJURIES ON BEHALF OF HEALTH & SAFETY EXECUTIVE

A Clitheroe hydraulic cylinder manufacturer has been fined for serious safety breaches after an employee lost the sight in his right eye and catastrophic injuries when he was struck in the face during a test procedure.

Lodematic Components Ltd was prosecuted on Friday 2nd October 2015 by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

Preston Crown Court heard that the worker was struck in the face by a pressurised hose during a test when a connector catastrophically failed. The worker suffered total blindness in his right eye as a result.

Lodematic Components of Clitheroe pleaded guilty to a breach of Section 2(1) of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and was fined £35,000 and ordered to pay full prosecution costs of £7,835.52.

Dan Thomas, a member of the Attorney General’s Regulatory Panel of Counsel, was instructed by Craig Morris of Fieldings Porter on behalf of the HSE.
