LISA ROBERTS QC AND KATHERINE PIERPOINT SECURE ACQUITTAL OF YOUNG MAN ACCUSED OF MURDER

After a trial before the Recorder of Leeds lasting almost six weeks, JS, aged only 17 and of good character at the time of the killing, was acquitted of murder and violent disorder. The case was a multi-handed trial, and involved the complex issue of joint enterprise. At the close of the Prosecution case, the judge acceded to legal submissions made by Lisa on joint enterprise murder and, consequently, JS faced only violent disorder for the remainder of the trial. Lisa and Katherine were instructed by Kamrans in Leeds.
