Martin is an experienced barrister who was called to the Bar in 1995. He practices exclusively in Criminal Law and is a knowledgeable and respected individual who manages a busy practice with a common sense style of advocacy.

Based predominantly at the crown courts in Preston and Burnley and serving solicitors in these areas, he has considerable experience of handling sensitive sexual cases, complex fraud allegations and clients with severe mental health problems. Martin has also been involved in several high profile cases attracting national media attention.

His daily workload encompasses serious criminal work, acting for both the defence and the prosecution including appellate cases; he currently holds category three prosecution status.

Martin joined Lincoln House as a tenant in January 2007. He has lectured to fellow practitioners on several occasions on a range of topics, including the 2003 Criminal Justice Act, criminal sentencing and dangerous offenders. He has also assisted local students in the Bar National Mock Trial Competition.
