Richard English and Liam Kotrie (of Mary Monson Solicitors) instructed by Mary Monson Solicitors, and Robert Elias and Holly Nelson instructed by Jonas Roy Bloom Solicitors represented two defendants, the husband and son of a deceased woman were charged with gross negligence manslaughter.
It was alleged that the men had neglected to care for her basic health needs resulting in her cause of death being emaciation and infected pressure sores.
Following a four-week trial in Carlisle Crown Court and after submissions were made as to the culpability of each defendant, in addition to expert psychological analysis the men were sentenced to imprisonment of 3 years’ and 2 years’ 8 months’ imprisonment respectively.
