Northern Ireland Module of Covid Inquiry Starts Today

The Northern Ireland Module of the UK Covid Inquiry commences in Belfast today. The Module is expected to explore how the NI Devolved Assembly responded to the global health pandemic between 2020 and 2022, including: whether delays by the Johnson Government in Westminster negatively impacted the Northern Irish response; whether after years of neglect and in the absence of the power-sharing government between 2017 – 2020, civil contingencies in NI were fit for purpose; whether more could and should have been done to protect older people and the disabled, particularly those living in care homes; and whether the NI response was stymied by party politics and sectarianism.

Our Brenda Campbell KC leads a team of counsel representing the Northern Irish Covid Bereaved Families for Justice, instructed by PA Duffy & Co Solicitors.
