Brenda Campbell KC Leads Defence Team in Kneecap Case
Brenda Campbell KC is instructed to represent Kneecap’s Liam Og Ó’hAnnaidh by Darragh Mackin, Director of Phoenix Law based in Belfast.
Mr Ó’hAnnaidh, charged under the name Liam O’Hanna, who performs under the name “Mo Chara”, is charged with a terrorism offence in relation to the alleged “display” of a flag in support of proscribed organisation Hezbollah at a London gig in November 2024.
Supporters of the group, musicians and activists, gathered in great numbers at yesterday’s hearing at Westminster Magistrates Court. Mr Ó’hAnnaidh was released on unconditional bail and the case has been adjourned to 20 August. The supporters of the group offered a round of applause outside the court following the appearance.
In an Instagram post the group said: “The British establishment is conducting a campaign against Kneecap which is to be fought in Westminster Magistrates Court… We are ready for this fight. We are proud to have such a strong legal team with us.”
Blinne Ní Ghrálaigh KC and Rosalind Comyn (Matrix Chambers), Jude Bunting KC (Doughty Street Chambers) & Gareth Pierce (senior partner at Birnberg Pierce & Partners) are also instructed for the defence.
