Rani Kaur Secures Suspended Sentence in Intentional Strangulation Case

Rani Kaur, instructed by Martha Whitehead of Olliers Solicitors, successfully secured a one year sentence of imprisonment, suspended for one year for a client convicted of intentional strangulation after trial.

The case concerned a short domestic incident that took place overnight in which the victim had entered the Defendant’s property and an altercation ensued. During the course of the altercation the Defendant strangled the victim three times.

Cases of intentional strangulation generally attract sentences of immediate imprisonment in the Crown Court. The Defendant was of previous good character and the circumstances of the incident were referred to as ‘peculiar’ by the sentencing judge.
