Barristers from Lincoln House Chambers attend MP Lobby Day at Westminster’
Last night barristers from Lincoln House Chambers, Clare Ashcroft, Rebecca Filletti and Ellen Shaw attended an MP lobby day in Westminster hosted by the Bar Council. Along with barristers from all over England and Wales they met with MPs to discuss the issues and concerns around the government’s proposal to restrict the right to jury trial.
This follows last Friday’s court constituency day, where barristers successfully hosted MPs at Court buildings nationwide to provide cross-party politicians the opportunity to understand how the Criminal Justice System operates, what issues may be contributing to delays and to hear from barristers and others who work within the courts why curtailing jury trials is not the answer.
Andrew Thomas KC of Lincoln House Chambers, who is currently the Vice Chair of the Criminal Bar Association, hosted at Liverpool Crown Court and Rebecca Filletti of Lincoln House Chambers hosted at Chester Crown Court.
Lincoln House Chambers continues to support the Bar Council and the Criminal Bar Association in their efforts and agree that engagement with our elected representatives really matters to provide an understanding of the challenges to the Criminal Justice System.
