Rani Kaur Successful in Avoiding Erasure for Doctor Found to Have Committed Serious Dishonesty

Rani Kaur, instructed by Banita Khosla of Medical Defence Shield, defended a doctor in a Medical Practitioners Tribunal hearing.

Rani was instructed at an early stage to advise the doctor after referral to a Medical Practitioners Tribunal hearing following a lengthy investigation by the GMC.

The case involved an allegation of dishonesty that the doctor had forged a reference whilst working as a locum consultant. The misconduct had taken place two years prior to
the hearing.

Rani made submissions at all stages that this constituted a single allegation of misconduct, with no repetition and that the doctor had since progressed in their career and entered a prestigious surgical training programme.

Following Rani’s robust submissions at sanction stage, the doctor received a short suspension of three months with no immediate order imposed.
