Mark Friend & Gillian Townsend Secure Acquittal in Serious Family GBH Case
Mark Friend, instructed by Gillian Townsend of Stephensons Solicitors, represented a father accused of launching a planned and armed attack on his daughter’s long term partner, as he slept, having driven to a property at which the man was asleep in Lancaster. The man suffered serious injuries that included a depressed skull fracture.
The case concerned serious allegations of unprovoked violence said to have arisen after an earlier altercation involving the defendant’s daughter and her partner. Mark Friend’s client denied allegations of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and the lesser offence of inflicting grievous bodily harm. Following a trial, he was acquitted of both of the charges.
The acquittal marked an important outcome in a case involving emotive evidence, family tensions, and allegations of weapon use. Mark Friend was instructed throughout the proceedings on a private basis by Gillian Townsend. Together, they ensured that the case was comprehensively prepared for trial so their client’s case could be presented in the most effective way.
