Ged Doran and Constance Halliwell Secure Suspended Sentence in Prostitution Trafficking Case

Ged Doran (leading) and Constance Halliwell, instructed by Victoria Khan of KK & Co Solicitors, secured an outstanding result for their client at Sheffield Crown Court, achieving a suspended sentence following a complex two-day sentencing hearing that concluded on 25 April 2025.

The case involved seven defendants, all of whom ultimately pleaded guilty to conspiracy to control prostitution for gain as part of an organised crime group responsible for trafficking and exploiting women across the UK.

Ged Doran’s leadership was instrumental throughout the demanding five week trial. He provided strategic direction and demonstrated exceptional advocacy in navigating a case built on voluminous technical evidence and complicated further by late disclosure. Ged’s ability to rigorously analyse the prosecution’s case and identify weaknesses was central to the defence.

Working closely alongside Ged, Constance Halliwell and Victoria Khan played a vital role in the preparation and presentation of the defence. Constance’s meticulous attention to detail and approach to evidence management were key in addressing late disclosure and ensuring the client’s position was accurately represented.

Together, Ged, Constance & Victoria’s efforts led the court to accept that their client’s involvement was significantly less serious than originally alleged. Despite the gravity of the offences and the fact that several co-defendants received immediate custodial sentences, Ged’s persuasive submissions on sentence, supported by Constance’s thorough groundwork were pivotal in securing a suspended sentence for their client.

This result is a testament to Ged Doran’s leadership, strategic insight, and advocacy, as well as Constance Halliwell’s technical expertise and commitment. The case further reinforces the Chambers’ reputation for excellence in complex and high profile criminal cases.
