Alistair Webster KC and Simon Gurney KC instructed important Supreme Court tax appeal by Natalia Aguilar of Richardson Lissack Solicitors

Alistair and Simon will be appearing in the Supreme Court in November to deal with a point of significant public importance: the burden of proof in appeals against tax penalties. Many taxpayers receive penalty notices and the issue is whether or not it is for HMRC to prove liability, as opposed to issuing a notice and expecting the taxpayer to disprove liability.
