Jail terms for Defendants who plotted to shoot a rival and trade in combat weapons

Seven men have been jailed for their role in plots to supply firearms and ammunition with intent to endanger lives.

The conspiracies included a nationwide trade in military grade weapons and as well as revenge attack on a Salford criminal.

On Friday 4th 2022, Mr Justice Kerr, sitting at the Crown Court at Manchester, gave the seven defendants at total of 80 years imprisonment.

The sentences ranged from 25 years to 6 years. The cases came to light when operations launched by the National Crime Agency and Greater Manchester Police gained access to secret messages sent via Encrochat devices.
