KNEECAP TERROR CHARGE NULL AND VOID

Leading a formidable legal team including Jude Bunting KC of Doughty Street Chambers, Blinne Ní Ghrálaigh KC and Rosalind Comyn of Matrix Chambers, instructed by Darragh Mackin of Phoenix Law and with the assistance of Gareth Peirce of Birnberg Peirce and Partners, Brenda Campbell KC has successfully argued that the terror charge faced by Kneecap’s Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh was null and void.

In a judgment handed down this morning, the District Judge ruled that the proceedings which alleged that Mr Ó hAnnaidh displayed a Hezbollah flag during a performance, in such circumstances as to arouse reasonable suspicion that he is a supporter of a proscribed organization, were not instituted in the correct form, lacking the necessary DPP and AG consent, within the 6 month statutory time limit for summary offences.
