About Mia Monahan

Mia successfully completed the Bar Professional Training Course at the Inns of Court College of Advocacy and was called to the Bar in July 2023. Mia’s pupillage is under the supervision of Rachel White.

Prior to commencing pupillage, Mia studied Criminology and Social Policy and the University of Birmingham. During this time, she served as a Special Constable for West Midlands Police. She gained valuable experience in autonomous working, evidence gathering, interviewing, and engaging with vulnerable individuals in high-pressure situations, providing practical insight into the Criminal Justice System.

Additionally, Mia worked as a Private Client paralegal, where she advised clients on wills, inheritance tax, and Court of Protection matters, translating complex legal issues into clear, accessible guidance.

At the Bar, Mia has demonstrated strong advocacy and adaptability, including success in the Michael Corkery QC Criminal Law Moot and representing workers in disciplinary and employment matters for the Cleaners & Allied Independent Workers Union (CAIWU). In this role, she advised members, presented cases at hearings, and negotiated outcomes, developing practical advocacy, negotiation, and case management skills.
