NEIL USHER SECURES ACQUITTAL IN PRISONER ON PRISONER RAPE TRIAL

Following a six day re-trial at Manchester Crown Court, Neil Usher successfully secured the acquittal of his client, WB, who was accused of raping another prisoner in a cell at Forest Bank prison. A nine day trial in September resulted in a hung jury. The two trials were noteworthy in that all five prosecution corroborating witnesses (all of whom were serving prisoners) – were treated as hostile witnesses. Neil Usher was instructed by Jacqui Hobin of Tranters Solicitors.
