Police officers jailed for misconduct

Two police officers have been jailed for offences of misconduct in a public office for 18 months. The pair, Jason Hanvy and Andrew Kennedy were convicted of the offences by a jury at the Manchester Crown Court lasting three weeks.

The prosecution alleged that PC Hanvy had deliberately used excessive force towards a detainee; Kennedy, a custody sergeant, did not intervene to prevent the harm.
