Tim Storrie and Dan Thomas Successfully Prosecute Kendal Murder Case

A Kendal man has been jailed for the murder of Stacey Mackie, aged 35 years, in January of this year. Terrence Armer, aged 61 of Buttery Well Road, Kendal, was convicted at the Crown Court at Carlisle before Mr Justice Irwin and a jury.

The jury heard that Armer planned to kill Miss Mackie after she spurned his attentions. On 27th January 2012 he tried to break into her home with an axe. Once inside he then doused Miss Mackie with white spirit before setting her alight. She died the following afternoon after being taken to Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester. Armer, who denied murdering Miss Mackie, was convicted by the jury on 20th June 2012. In sentencing him to life, with a minimum term of 27 years, Mr Justice Irwin said he committed ‘a truly terrible act’. Tim Storrie and Dan Thomas prosecuted for CPS Barrow.
