Following circulation of a list of counsel by the LAA which appears to suggest that barristers named on it are prepared to undertake VHCC cases on the new, drastically reduced fees, we wish to make it clear that no member of Lincoln House will accept such work.
Alistair Webster QC says,”It is difficult to see what the LAA was trying to convey by this list, unless it was aimed at creating dissension and confusion. It is very unhelpful. We take the view that the slash and burn attack by the MoJ on fees, reducing them to unsustainable levels, needs to be exposed as the policy disaster that it will turn out to be. The profession is united in opposition and tactics like this only serve to strengthen our resolve.”
